Happy halloween, all! No celebrations for me though, got my finals in 2 weeks. Exam time for high school students equals sneaking into Auckland University's many libraries to study... cause they actually are quiet. So I apologise now if I'm one of those people that somehow manages to beat you to the last available seat in IC4, and you have an assignment due in 3 hours. I'm sorry, really, I am. But hey, its ineveitable, I get too distracted at home!

Speaking of distraction, my New Zealand Fashion Week 2010 review is long overdue, and so here's part 1 of my NZFW series.

RUBY A/W2011 - "THE ADVENTURERS"

Ruby Boutique has had a pretty good run over the years, considering they first started off as mainly tees and hoodies. Ruby have just debuted their full collection at Fashion Week this year, was one of the year's most anticipated shows, and certainly lived up to expectations. Ruby's 'The Adventurers' AW 2011 collection followed the spirit of the adventurer in promoting practical yet stylish winter clothing. Crisp checked shirts, shorts and dresss, puffy jackets, parkas and coats in a colour palette of forest green, navy, mustard, mushroom and crisp blues were worn with desert boots, and just makes you want to go tramping in the hills! The Adventurers then takes a turn and heads towards featuring girlier ensembles, electric neon orange and metallic gold waist-hugging tunics and skinny cigarette pants which were paired with black shaggy knits.

This collection will certainly be very well received when it reaches stores! So hurry up and make mental lists of what you need, and then pre-order them! For me, that shaggy knit skirt and THIS mustard tunic dress are on the top of my list! :)

A friend of mine has put me on a shopping ban until about mid-December. Which means I'm not allowed to spend a single cent on anything other than food and school. This is my second week into the challenge, and I'm already suffering withdrawal symptoms. No clothes, no jewellery, no nail polish... THIS SUCKS! Seeing as the consequence of breaking this challenge is even worse, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it. Why I allow myself to walk into situations like these, I dont even know. SO, fuguring it won't do me or my pocket any harm, online window shopping is the safest bet - when the only thing you can damage is pretty much just my psyche.

Abbey Lee Kershaw can do no wrong by me. The perfect combination of fashion forward street style, that platinum blonde hair, and those unique features make her so intoxicatingly beautiful and interesting to look at. In my mind, she's this untouchable, exotic giraffe of a creature, with a gorgeous foreign accent - and then I realise that she was once just your average Melbournian teenager who worked part time at a bakery! And she has this most endearing little Ozzie accent. Abbey Lee is human after all, haha. (do watch the interview, she's so honest and down to earth.)

Abbey Lee returns home for November 2011 Vogue Australia editorial - and is stunning as always. She looks so good in this editorial, I'm convinced to buy even the skin off her back. Oh, and that Miu Miu dress, of course! Love her hair in this editorial, and that front-on shot of her is BEYOND STUNNING. I believe I've run out of adjectives to describe her with. The fact that this editorial is from Vogue Australia also makes me happy, cause this means its readily available at just about every supermarket/petrol station in existence and it won't cost me a bomb. This editorial is a keeper!

Fun fact : Abbey Lee Kershaw worked New Zealand Fashion Week in 2006 when she just started out as a model, hoping to make it big here. Fast forward a couple of years later, and she's been named the 5th most successful international model of the year!

Sorry for being away for so long, I guess when blogging starts to feel like a chore, I deserve a bit of a break. Intending for it only to be a short week long break, studying for exams and being sick have done nothing to help. But for now at least, I've got the blogging bug back!

Leather. My obession with this stuff is quite apparent, and rather unhealthy. I feel like I've let it manifest so much in my mind that at the end of the day, I NEED leather in every shape and form of clothing possible. I mean, LOOK! NYFW S/S 2010-2011 ; favourite 5.

New York Fashion Week has just come to a close, and made way for London Fashion Week. I do look forward to (especially) the S/S shows, cause I've never been particularly good at getting dressed for the summer and desperately seek inspiration. It's been a pretty good season for the New Yorkers, and so I've decided to sum up my favourite few collections for the season in this post. Surprisingly though, not many of my favourite designers made it on the list.

First of all, Helmut Lang is at the top of my list. Upon having heard great things from this promising young label since a few collections back, I decided that it was time to finally give Hemut Lang its deserved attention, and either hate it or love it.Fortunately for me, I absolutely fell in love with the collection!! Never tiring of the phrase "One can never have too much of a good thing," and in this case, this good thing is monochrome. Whites, tonal grays and gradual fades to black is the key pallette for this collection, made up of light cotton shirts and skirts and light almost sheer knits paired with cotton jackets or silk print tanks. organic, flowing textures were chosen over the label's previous work with structured tailoring and fit, and this embodies the relaxed vibe of spring/summer perfectly. Spring and summer might be the seasons associated with florals, ruffles, pastels - but its just so overdone. Helmut Lang's use of a monochrome pallette is a fresh view on the hotter seasons of the year, and if a woman can be dressed in the last look in the first photo, and be cruising on a yacht with the wind in her face - then, hell, why not.

Continuing with the idea of a monochrome pallette over bright florals, is Jen Kao's s/s 2011 collection. Khaki green and white infused into soft chiffon-like materials were the main attraction of the show - very ethereal themed collection, many floaty dresses were in the collection, with their see-through quality which seemed goddess-like and the shift dresses were reminiscent of a high-fashion Tinkerbell. Absolutely beautiful pieces were in this collection, and they certainly deserve some red-carpet quality time! That very last olive coloured dress, I can see Maggie Gyllenhaal in. It would look absolutely gorgeous against her porcelain skin, and besides, what can't that woman pull off?

Vera Wang. The renowned gown designer, can never put a foot wrong with any dress she designs, but in this season's collections, I thought the pants/shorts were more of a standout than the sakura-print pencil dresses. The cuffed shorts in the collections were the standouts to me. Repeated in many colours, Vera has paired them with office-friendly Japanese kimono inspired sheer tops and creates an overall polished but youthful look, shown by the asymmetrical drapery on some pieces. The draped collection uses a mostly monochromatic pallette - which is then broken by the brightly coloured shift dresses (as worn by Abbey Lee and Freja Beha Erichsen) which appeared after about every 5 looks in the collection - playing with the use of colour for the warmer seasons.

Another collection which caught my attention this time round was Christian Siriano SS2011. The central theme of his collection was quite apparent really, Safari. Leather versions of safari suits were put out there, as well as loud animal print splayed accross the collection in all kinds of dreses, screaming out not to be ignored. There was nothing subtle about this collection, and well, is the world subtle even associated with Christian Siriano? Given his lovable 'Fierce' nature and his magnificent workmanship, I guess not - he's just unavoidable. The bright animalesque print dresses towards the end of his collection may have been veering on the edge of over-the-top, but you can't deny this man the fact that you admire his talent for making show-stopping, beautiful dresses. The shapes of the garments many not have been ground breaking, but, where it was applicable, the use of drapery and detail on the garments have made this collection unforgettable and certainly cemented his place in the fashion industry.

And last, but not least, and summing up my list of top 5 favourite NYFW SS2011 collections is that of Jason Wu. Starting the show with those wonderful bow-collar sheer white tops, Jason Wu had already caught the attention of his audience. The use of nude colours that slowly transitioned to shockingly bright colours like cobalt blue, hot pinks and oranges made sure that there was something in store for everyone - for the brave and the less brave. From the collection, I've sensed a Parisienne flair as seen in the sophisticated simple silhouettes of the garments which are form-fitting, flattering on a woman, and all about cut. Not to mention the focus on detail within the collection, a few ruffles here and there, which added to the sophisticated elegance of the entire collection. Also, that striped top and white ruffle skirt concoction just screams Carey Mulligan, don't you think?

Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang are my fashion favourites but I think they failed to impress this season. :(

NZ Fashion Week - Who to be looking out for.

New Zealand Fashion Week will take place starting this Tuesday,
(21st to 26th September) and its terribly exciting that I'll be working backstage! :)
Names to keep an eye out for : Stolen Girlfriends Club, Karen Walker, 27 Names, Nom*D, Ruby Boutique, Zambesi, Lonely Hearts, Cybele. Also recently heard by word of mouth about this really cool new label, Maakie (?? spelling?) Can't wait to check it out!

I'll defiantely be blogging about the shows, and hopefully have plenty to share about what NZ designers have to offer.
But first, here's a small selection of the designers' work :

From Stolen Girlfriends, as we more fondly refer to them, a smogasboard of delicious vintage-meets-new grunge street style for both men and ladies! Renowned for their dark-themed, sophisticated jewelry as well as their perfectly lived in, slouch-to-perfection clothes, Stolen Girlfriends is naturally one of my top most anticipated shows. In fact, The Stolen Girlfriend boys have achieved cult-like status here in New Zealand, anyone who's anyone will have heard of the Stolen Girlfriends Club! This being said, they've done pretty well overseas too, taking their debut Rosemount Australian Fashion Week show by storm earlier this year, and have Juliette Lewis, Kate Bosworth, Daisy Lowe, & The Cobra Snake as celebrity followers.

Twenty-seven Names is the brainchild of two lovely Wellingtonians, Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart. I absolutely ADORE the public school girl aesthetic of the label, its such a refreshing new spin on fashion - and I feel like I've overused the word 'wintage', but you can definately see a vintage vibe to the clothes that can easily be matched with more modern, fashion forward pieces. There's a young innocence to this label that I find extremely intriguing, because it is heavily juxtaposed by the labels use of black and sheer materials, which add to the beauty of the overall look. Any label that makes beautiful sheer clothes is in my good books! :)

And the Queens of all things a-la-vintage, the folks over at Ruby Boutique. Stocking 3 designers worth of goodies, Ruby Boutique is chock full of all things whimsical, yes, this is me speaking from experience. The collection in the photo higher up is Ruby's F/W 2010,I reckon the BEST collection Ruby has put out there. Chanelling an almost Chloe Sevigny vibe (look, even the model's a Chloe lookalike!) of indie, quirky, yet chic at the same time, Ruby has managed to re-work sheer materials into various different looks, night, day and even work. Never one to disappoint, Ruby's current SS collection is bang on trend; a few prints here and there, COLOUR, open flowy blouses and camis and a touch of playfulness and summer charm, so I'm sure their Fashion Week collection will be equally as stunning.

Hope this post will give you a good idea of what to expect from NZFW, and for those who don't know much about NZ designers, hope this gave you a little insight into our small but ever expanding pool of fashion talent! :)

Inspiration Sunday : Sovereign

Sorry for being away, its exam season, which is a shame really,
cause it's also NYFW!!! which means I'm going to be behind (as always)
on blogging about the runway splendours of the season.
But today, I will be catching up on last week's inspiration Sunday that I missed.

So, August 29th was the Primetime Awards, and of course, Anna Paquin and (boyfriend? fiancee? husband?)Stephen Moyer were there - though not to receive an award, but to present. Paquin, fashionable as always, showed up in yet another McQueen creation straight off the runway :

Gorgeous dress from the collection, but personally, I think the long train swamps her petite figure. The short lace dresses in the collection would have looked better on her! Here is the entire collection:

Ever since the tragic death of Alexander McQueen earlier this year,
I've not looked at much of the label's work simply because noone can replace Alexander McQueen and I didn't want to see anyone trying - and failing.
However, Sarah Burton, McQueen's successor, have proved me wrong as we can see in this resort collection. True, it's not as extreme, true, its not groundbreaking, but it sure is beautiful. Its as if the label has matured under Burton's guidance, the key elements of a McQueen design is still there - structure, texture, print, but now the clothes have developed into wearable pieces that work with a woman's figure instead of just being pieces of art that speak for themselves, and it does feel like it is a woman designing for women, she knows what looks and works best on a woman. And it really excites me to say, Yes, I love this collection.
Hope to see more from Burton come London Fashion Week! :)

Oh also, just because I can't help myself.
Did anyone else notice Ryan Murphy's Tom Ford tuxedo at the Emmys?
Its the very one Nicholas Hoult is wearing in the previous post!
How exciting! Though to be honest, I was expecting someone younger and more fashion-forward to be wearing it - perhaps Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Pattinson, especially after Rob Pat's winning Gucci suit at the Eclipse premiere. That being said, Ryan Murphy looks dashing in Tom Ford!

If anyone's been closely following my blog for the past year/know me well,
you'll know that I have the HUGEST crush on Nicholas Hoult.
Ohh that accent!
If you don't know who he is, he's been in a few movies, - I believe his acting break when he was about 8 years old starring next to Hugh Grant in About A Boy, and his more memorable roles to date are as Tony Stonem off British TV series Skins, a minor role in Clash of The Titans, supporting role of Kenny Porter in A Single Man, and upcoming in the new X-Men movie sequel (YUSSSS! Okay, I'm a geek at heart.) as Beast.(DOUBLE YUSS!)

And now, he's gone on to impress the likes of Tom Ford, who has in fact shamelessly announced himself as Nick's biggest fan. (And who can blame him? I mean - those gorgoues eyes!) The outlandish designer who is famous for his attention-grabbing, over the top ad campaigns has made Nick his newest protege, giving him not one, but TWO campaign features, photographed by the designer himself, within this year:

Nick is wearing (surprise,surprise!) Tom Ford throughout.

FINALLY got my Jeffrey Campbell brogues today,
and I love them! (which is funny cause Ashley absolutely despises them haha)
I've been wearing them around the house... as you do... and so far so good!
Extremely comfortable, and also innadequately mannish,
which in my books equals PERFECT.
My first JC experience has been a good one! :)
Though all the store girls at Andrea Biani act as if they're better than everyone.
Maybe next time I'll shop Solestruck instead. No need to talk to surly shop assistants
who manage to make shopping feel like a chore.

Inspiration Sunday time!
I actually quite enjoy these posts. hehe.
Gives me more of a reason to perve at all things beautiful.

Last year, the fashion world was rocked by one Christopher Kane's animal tee - the angry gorilla, starting a fashion pandemic, and soon, everyone owned it. Then, Chrsitopher Kane collaborated with one MASSIVE high street label that we're all familar with, yes, Topshop, and created a line that was more friendly to the purse, and introduced THIS tee :

THE 'GATOR TEE.

Stunned by the amazing ness of it all, this little girl decided she MUST get the 'gator tee or risk missing out on a piece of fashion history - WHO ELSE can make a plain old T-Shirt so freakin' amazing??? So, she skipped along happily to the Topshop on Oxford Street in London, yes, four storeys of sheer amazing Topshop goodness, hoping to God that she'd find the tee. After spending very very very long in the amazing four storey Topshop and wanting to buy EVERYTHING, she still could not find the tee. So she decided to ask the salesgirls, and was met with a "Oh sorry dah-lin', they're all gon'. Would you like to look at his dresses or eyelet leggings?" And this little girl was heartbroken. So she swore to never love [another Christopher Kane collection, I mean] ever again, to save herself from more heartbreak.

And that plan succeeded, but the girl was never truly happy. See, everyone needs love [Christopher Kane amazingness!!!!!!!!!!!] in their lives.
And that's when she came upom this.

So, examsexamsexams starting next week...
Unsurprisingly, I feel underprepared,
its like this every year.. GRR.
Always feel like there's that SOMETHING that you
could have done to change your grade for the better...
like today in design where everyone got their 3.2 Poster
grades back, and (FIGURES!!!) Me Annita and Rach will require more
time to mark and for the teachers to think about cause
we're sitting on Merit canoes, sailing towards Excellence,
but it depends which teachers want to give us LIFEJACKETS.
IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
So, yes, very frustrating.
can't help thinking (KNOWING) that I could've done way more
just to get a SOLID higher grade or something.
Ugh.
But yes, sorry about the confusing imagery,
I assure you, I do NOT take English.
If I did, I don't think I'd pass it with that crummy metaphor... ...

ANYHOO.
Onto more exciting things.
Something terribly exciting, and PROBABLY life changing
will occur on Wednesday the 8th Of September.
I really hope I get it, but I don't want to say too much
cause I'm worried I'll jinx it..
I'll keep you guys posted, ONLY IF you keep your fingers
crossed for me! xD fair bargain, no? haha.
In the meantime I'll be brushing up on my
NZ designers knowledge! :)

Applications to university have been sent,
and all thats left are exams to study for and to do well in.

Inspiration Sunday : Sheer Fancy

So I reckon I'm going to start this segment on my blog,
an inspiration recap of the week on music/fashion/photog etc every Sunday.
This week I'll start out with the fascinating new collection (one of many)
Dark Noveau from Topshop this F/W 2010-2011.
Filled with nude sheer material and contrasting tough leatherette pieces,
this collection is purgatory at its best.
Also, we can expect sheers coming back into fashion (which is great, cause
it will be spring summer soon here in upside down land) and of course,
leather, cause we all know it never goes out of season. :]

Okay, so I've blown my montly internet capacity from watching too many TV shows online...
(FINISHED all 4 seasons of Dexter!!!! hohohoho.)

Emi, Jessi and I were walking into Newmarket today when Emi's like "Before I was born, everyone expected me to be a boy and I was about to become a Jack." Which got us all thinking -
What would we be like if we were guys?
Emi thinks that he(JACK) would be a flambouyant gay guy who calls himself JayJay or Jackie - though we beg to differ. Em/Jack would be too straight to be gay! Though, I must say, the thought of having a gay friend is very tempting. THINK OF ALL THE BITCHING&SHOPPING WE COULD BE DOING! -I envision every gay guy to be Marc off Ugly Betty though, so don't mind me.
And Jessi says if she were a boy, she'd be the cool nerd - like she'd fit in with cool people, but all she'd (HE'D??!!) want to be doing is sitting at home and playing games. Sound like marbert? haha.
I couldn't come up with anything for the masculine version of myself, save Asian nerd. lol. how creative. But Emi and Jessi think I'd be a cool Asian street dancer, much into The Jabbawockees and The Poreotics( EEEEEEEEEE :] ) and that I'd date Rachel Soh and "do those weird funky cool things with my hands" (Jessi tries to demonstrate, flaps arms around, lol.) Hem Hem, It's called tutting, Jessi. BUT UM!! Does this not sound like someone we already know (okay, minus the dating Rach part, cause that would be bizarre...), JAE WU! Yes, I'd rather like to be like him, actually.
As for Annie, that was easy, haha. She'd be the mama's boy who'd help make dinner everynight and still kisses his mum goodnight - but has a deep dark secret and a rebellious side.
Peaty, well uh, she'd just... ... still be Peaty. HOHOHO. Oh she's funny.
But yeah, my fake life is so much more exciting than my current one. Gladly swap please.

NZ fashion week is in about a month!
Its not nearly as big as any other international fashion week,
but hey, NZ designers have their charm.
Though I'm not going to see any shows, I'm excited to hear about
local designers' collections for next year's F/W!
Got high hopes for a BEAUTIFUL show from Sera Lily,
and nothing less than spectacular from Stolen Girlfriends.
Nearly forgot about Karen Walker!
Not a big fan, but I'll give her some props,
she always manages to make some of the best collections around.
AND. THE. BEST. SUNGLASSES.

catching up with Arna today!
Just realised that I never knew how much I missed the good times we used to have.
I just think its funny how with some people, you just feel so judged and misunderstood,
and then there's people that you just happen to be COMPLETELY in sync with, and oh its an amazing feeling.

Hey all.

Hellllo blogosphere!
I'm back from Sydney, which was much fun
even if I have to admit it myself. heh.
Wicked was, without a doubt, amazing.
The 3 minutes of Defying Gravity was unreal,
like I was actually in my seat crying cause she was THAT good.
Wicked was actually really funny, to my surprise,
its a refreshing change from the other dramatic plays I've seen.
If you get a chance at any stage of your life, do go see it!
Trust me, its the best i've seen so far.
(I'm sorry Chicago, but Wicked takes the lead!)

And while in Sydney,I did much [window] shopping,
just to scope out the genereal 'style' of youngsters,
and its clean, simple yet edgy, almost indie even..
Like oh i dont know how to say, like..
like Kate Moss off-duty?
Much simple silhouettes and monochromatic colours
(but then again. this might be due to the winter season),
so basically nothing ground breaking that anyone hasnt seen before,
but pretty much just different pieces working cohesively together.
Sydney-ites are very fashion concious, and are readily
following the international trends, like much Khaki green was seen
as well as leather and trenches, much like the leather and military style
sported on the f/w 2010 catwalks of fashion power houses like
Burberry, Karl Lagerfeld, Alex Wang etc.

Brave: Nude cream lipstick. Its the exact same shade as my lips..
Probably should've taken that into consideration before I bought it, but its extremely
versatile, as one would expect of a nude lipstick, and you can dress it up or down with
different coloured glosses for different looks. Hence one I use quite often :)

Dream: A frosted baby pink lipstick. Extremely pretty, and reminds me of cotton candy.
Its perfectly new cause I think the shimmeriness intimidates me a little. (A LOT)
Lol. But its soooo pretty. I would imagine someone wearing this out at night,
with rather blase eye makeup.. so yeah. Not very ME at all... But its
a beautiful shade. And it came with a matching lipliner and Dazzleglass to complete
a frosty pink lip. Imma go on a mission to find when I can pull off this look. lol.

Trimming Talk: Bright fuschia. Need I say more? Statement lipstick, this one. Its like Barbie on crack! Semi cream except for its few specks of shimmer, I levitate towards
Trimming Talk for nights out, simply because its so flattering and also cause its
so opaque - spares you the hassle of lipliner. Wore this to the ball last year, and
sort of regret it. I mean come on. What was I thinking? Turqouise and fuschia?
But it photographed well... so yes. Definately one of my Faves.

Sweet Thing: A duller, sheerer version of Trimming Talk. I would say Sweet Thing has more of a purple undertone to it, making it less bold and more wearable for the daytime.
Pretty, you could say it is, as its also a very flattering colour, has more microscopic

M.A.C. Red: Red is one of those colours that suits everyone, but shades vary between skin tones. MAC Red is a vivid bluish red. This to me is THE definition of red lipstick. Perfect
shade, perfect finish, simply perfect. Fire engine red I would describe it as. Normally
I would wear it with lipliner just to prevent it from bleeding, but even if worn alone,
colour is still true to what you see and extremely creamy. MAC's Ruby Woo, Brave
Red and Russian Red are often compared to MAC Red, and more people seem to
favour the others... But I prefer Mac Red as its just uh.. how to say..... REDDER? lol.

Hang Up : Intense reddy purple (burgundy?). Wow. This is the most fascinating shade of lipstick I own, and it makes me furious that I don't suit it. (It makes me look veryveryvery
tanned.) I absolutely love the I-just-ate-berries stain it shows up as on your lips, and
to make the colour show up more, merely reapply it. Such a bewitching, seductive
colour that I DO NOT have the guts to wear. I could sit here and talk about it all day,
its so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oozes glam and sophistication, but someone
needs to teach me how to wear this out without looking like a vamp. Which reminds
me, I love seeing this sorta red wine coloured shade on fair skinned girls, its so..
vampy. Oh I lovelovelovelovelove it. Plum. Burgundy. Mauve. Whatever you call it,
I LOVE IT. Amongst the entire Spring Forecast collection which
was MAC's biggest collection ever, promoting about 15 lipsticks this one stood out to
me the most. so thats saying a lot!

Viva Glam Gaga: Collaboration with the one and only Lady Gaga has resulted in this creamy, bubblegum pink lipstick to be born. I feel like the shade washes me out,
so I guess its saying that you need to be more made up to pull off this shade.
I like it cause its extremely bold, but again it falls into the same category as
Dream ; baby pink.. which is not normally what I go for... Heh. Lets just say
we'll leave Viva Glam Gaga to Lady Gaga.

Viva Glam Cyndi: Semi-sheer red coral shade with shimmer. Had mixed feelings when I first saw it, but OhMyGosh. Cyndi Lauper, you are a true genius. (of course, we
already know this. teehee.) This is a versatile, more subdued version of that
statement red-lippie look we know and love. Due to it being more sheer than
the Gaga, this lipstick is much more wearable, and I see no problem with
wearing it throughout the year, it would work in winter just as well as it would
in summer, unlike per se, Gaga's. And I reckon it would work from day to
night too. I would even go as far to say that it's universally flattering, so
everyone should definately give this a try! You'll find its truly amazing.
trust me, you'll love it.

So. Bring It On Central Heats today..
AND WE'RE SECOND PLACE!
So proud of all you girls,
and kudos especially to Milo, Chloe,Rach and Oni..
Your hard work has definately paid off.
The crew's coordination was amazing, no stray limbs
or delayed movements, no pause cause you guys forgot a move,
and no look of confusion as you think of the next move.
Boy, were you guys giving it.

The atmosphere in the stadium was AMAZING;
EVERYONE was cheering everyone on.
Like competitors aren't staring each other down
or sizing up their competition,
but encouraging each other.
Its just such a good place to be, you know?
Reiterating the fact that BIO is the celebration of talent
across the country, and not solely a competition.
The atmosphere certainly helped all performers
who fed off this energy and gave us their best;
and in some cases even injuring themselves cause
they were that hardcore!

Though I must say, the competition was pretty tight;
4th place went to Mount Albert Grammar,
who I thought were great,
cause their crew was mainly made up of white people
(THERE IS NO EASIER WAY TO SAY IT IS THERE?)
who were'nt afraid to be themselves; like their mix
consisted of rock music (Killing In The Name Of) which was really refreshing;
like they're not trying to be who they're not and just use gangsta music, you know?
And gosh they had the tiniest little Justin Bieber look-alike
who they totally exploited and it was so adorable!
so cute when they re-enacted the J-Beebs Baby video.
So yes. A very fitting 4th place.
And oh, their costumes were blue tshirts, gingham vests and black RIPPED skinnies.
How NOT to like?

And in 3rd place, was Onehunga High.
When this was announced, us Epsoms were fully just sitting
there with our mouths hanging open.
Onehunga had costumes and a routine worthy of FIRST PLACE!
Seriously, at this point there was no doubt on all of our minds
that we would'nt even get a placing anymore if Onehunga got third.
(Onehunga's was ah-may-zing. Seriously. Not even exaggerating.
Look away for a second, look back and you'll be lost in translation.
So hypnotic. You just could'nt take you eyes off it, like
their moves were so bizzare that they worked and it made it innovative.
ALTHOUGH THEY DID STEAL OUR INTRO. lol.)
Maybe they got marked down based on their 'death rate'?
(At least 5 of their members were injured and had to be carried off
at the end of the routine.)

And then the MC's announce
"and in second place... .... ...
In the same position as the year before,
The QUEENS OF CENTRAL!"
and us 4 supporters are like "what? who?"
(lol. we are BringItOn virgins you see)
And then our eardrums burst.
Oh dear. Today I discover
Epsom Girls has a very high shrieking ability compared
to other schools.
Boys shriek, don't they?
(You watch the Heineken ad first before you answer me!)
But yes.
It was only when I hear these estranged cries
(cause oh Alice you funny thing! Dont try cheering while you're crying!)
that I realised we had won. (well also cause the platform was about to
break under all 38 of our girls jumping up and down, lol.)
Ohmygosh. Highlight of my life!!
And I don't think we stopped cheering. Ever.
Not even when Alice and her three friends started sobbing
cause they were so happy, not even when that pretty girl with the fringe
fainted cause she couldn't breathe cause the circle we were making was too small,
not even when Mount Roskill got announced first.
This is definately school spirit at its best,
and I'm sososososososo glad that I got to experience it firsthand. :)

BIASED OPINION UP AHEAD.

I think Epsom looked really good, cause our colour scheme was excellent,
and it may have been simple (Tshirt, shorts, tights) but it was clean yet contrasting,
and didn't take away from the actual dance.
The white gloves REALLY helped too, especially during the tutting,
which was (for once, lol) completely ON TIME, cause it helped the audience
focus on the teenytinymovement.
And Oh. The Thin Lizzy bit was GENIUS.
Noone else had it in their routine, and you could tell everyone was enjoying
themselves during it, and its SO relevant to girls.
So cutecutecute!
*Must remind myself to watch Rach do it. I must laugh at thee. Im sorry. I must.
Our theme was also very clear - Alice In Wonderland connotations were throughout,
and Sara, you are such a sweetie/amazing dancer!
Though I'm sorry we didn't have enough time to give you Alice-like ringlets.
And last but not least, of course, hair and makeup looked outstanding..
WONDER WHO DID IT.

So yes, our girls with their slicked back quiffs and ponytails looked real clean,

I never thought I'd say this...
But I think neutron star collision is growing on me.
At first listen, its like a French dandy..
You know? sorta pompous, over-extravagant, self indulgent.

venturing into a mellow, much less hardcore version of

I have wanted this pair of jeans for way too long.
Its abnormal. I think I have dreams about them some nights.

These smexxay Sass and Bide's were first introduced
quite a while ago, SELLING OUT everywhere,
making them the most coveted jeans of the season.
So yes. naturally new Zealand only had odd sizes left
before I could get my hands on them.
Drool. Leopard print. drool.
BUTBUTBUT!
Now they are back in stock in the full glory that is Suprette
(AGAIN, not to be confused with Supre!)

Spent the better half of today in newmarket,
as one does, with Emily and Rhys.
(which was a chance meeting really. He ditched his
buddies when he saw us. HA. what an honour.)

And upon his insistence, we stopped by numerous
stores, namely Suprette, (NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR SUPRE.)
ParisTexas, Harlem 23, Qubic, Method. LOL right?
This guy has good style. I'm pleasantly surprised.
[Have I mentioned his brand new black Pleather jacket is lust worthy?
Its got a built in forest green hood and its beautifffful.]

And there's this really cool hatscarf Emily wants.

And he gets mighty excited cause he finds the magazine he's wanted for ages.

So he's flipping through one end, and I'm flipping through

So off we went.

We walk past Method and I'm like

We walk into the store and I grab a Federation catalougue,
And the girl that worked there was like
"Oh, would you guys like to grab this magazine as well?"
-Turns around a magazine with a Huffer ad on its back to
show us the cover.-

LOL. Well you see Me and Em have a flair for the arts,
so of course we pull out our GASP.OMG.WTF. faces.
"OMGRHYSSSSSSSSSS!"
Lol we're like scrambling out of the store,
magazines in hand screaming at him all the way
on the other side of the road.
Emily turns around to the girl and is like
"Wait, we'll be backkk! he just wants this!!"
And Rhys has this bewildered look on his face cause he's trying
not to get killed by a car while crossing the road, you see.
And we're flailing our arms and screaming
"VICE! MAG! BOOK! THING! COME BACK! VICE!"
And thank god he's known us for long enough to
decipher what we're shrilly screaming at him.
So he comes running back.
"YUSSSS! LOVE YOU GUYS." hugs us goodbye, kisses the mag, salutes at the store assistant and leaves.
By this time the store assistant is in a massive laughing fit.
Pleasure to have entertained you today. lol.
Also, I think I have met my match in terms of being
Out-Shopped and basking in novelty. He bought 3 clothing items today,
(including that awesome hooded jacket that I have my eye on.)
two of which he changed into STRAIGHT AFTER he bought them.
HA. you're such a girl sometimes. :]

And Yes. This is how we waste our uneventful lives.
Though, it truly is an awesome magazine.
Its style is very distinct, sorta grunge but not.
Gawd its hard to explain.
Rhys and Emi had one word to summarise the name of this sorta lifestyle but I forgot it. NOTE TO SELF : ask them tomorrow.

Never thought Year 13 life would be this EXPENSIVE lol.
priveledges = free periods/more freedom = Cafe/Newmarket.
LOL. Its a terrible cycle.
Mondays mean free periods from 11.05 to 2.15,
which results in us all shifting to newmarket,
then having foodcourt food or a $7 Tank, then going shopping
(depending on the person; Ashley-jewelry shopping,
Gabby-MAC shopping, Anusha-Clothes shopping etc.)
Or sitting at the cafes with our $5-6 mochas/berry smoothies
with passionfruit&yoghurt cupcakes or brownies.
Do you see the pattern? LOSE-LOSE situation for Debbie. ALWAYS.

I've promised myself to do well this year, haha.
Last year for me was just too much bumming around
- not taking 6th form seriously, deliberately
skipping classes, not going to exams...
Yeah. Not good year, and I paid the price for it.
barely scraping by with Merit was the wake up call I needed..
Most of the credits came from internals..
Thats how shockingly useless I got halfway through the year.

So yes, this school year's off to a good start-ish.
I'm not HATING my subs...
I say I hate Art Design, but I secretly like it. LOL
In fact, I procrastinated BY doing art design..
because who wants to be studying when you can be spending
three hours drawing/outlining/painting
a Louis Vuitton shoe?
And classics is semi-easy..
Just have to remember what Miss Lomax explains..
and Physics.. My god. I'm starting to learn
the wonders of actually listening to the teacher..
Its taken me three years to perfect the art of doing it, lol.
The whole me-george-sharon physics class thing
was PROBABLY too ditsracting for our own good. haha.
Except George always comes out smelling like a bed of roses.
You lucky child. Well she actually works very hard..
Unlike me.. ... ...
BUT THIS IS ABOUT TO CHANGE! lol.
Hence, my tomorrow (Saturday) shall NOT
be spent in Newmarket having coffee in Cova with Anusha,
then proceeding to Decjuba to drool over clothes and put them
on hold until I get paid, then proceed to Nuffield Street to put
grossly overpriced stuff on layby, hence burying myself deeper
in debt, hence eating more than I have burnt off,
hence becoming PHAT.
Life is a mean cycle, is it not?

So, my goals for tomorrow (in whatever order)
-Gym workout (2 hours MIN.)
-Buy Nail Polish Remover
-Change my nail colour
-More art design.
-Write up Physics report
-Chemistry balanced equations.

Also, if I'm a very well behaved tomorrow I shall do
my Calculus assignment and Chem Problem Sheet 3 as well.
WE SHALL SEE. haha.
And then maybe I can reward myself with some
icecream while I watch Supernatural ;)
Also, I'm quite liking how my art design mood board is turning out,
I'll post a few pics maybe when its ready?

So, my legs are aching and so are my arms..
and this is the product of one of many gruelling 1 hour sessions
with my P.T. James and last night's yoga class.
As you know, I do whine a lot,
(Lol sorry Ashley I apologise for all the
"Ohmagod i cant walk, help meee. Aaaaah my legs feel
like jelly! Pain! Paaain!")
but in the end I'm more than pleased than the
results of his coaching and my hard work.

Going into this whole gym thing in the beginning
of the year, my goal wasn't to simply lose weight
as one simply expects to do, but also to increase my
stamina, fitness and flexibilty.
I've been at Cityfitness for about 3 months now,
and now I feel like I've achieved what I had set out
to do..
I've definately lost body fat and gained muscle in their place, but also I find myself doing a lot better in other aspects, such as running stamina,
core strength, balance and flexibility (though we both
agree that I'm still as inflexible as a brick. lol)
Cynical as I was when I first signed up,
I really do reap the results now, and dedication certainly pays off.
SO I've managed to slowly get rid of my terrible eating habits
and irregular sleep patterns, also lessen my
shopaholic ways by spending most of my time in the gym.
(It also does help when you notice that your clothes seem
to sit/look better on you than before.)
Its hard at first to get into an unfamiliar, tougher, routine,
but once you get into it, you'll be KEEN for a workout.
(Im so proud of you GabbyandAshley! ;])

LOL I know what you guys are thinking,
WHAT-HAPPENED-TO-THE-DEBBIE-WE-KNOW?
But seriously,
I'm practising what I preach..
so goodbye old unfit cynical i-hate-exercise debbie.
The gym is GREAT! ;D
Also, I would not be at this level without James' help
and patience.
Yes I know he's paid to do it, but still,
you gotta appreciate the people, man!
And yeah. He knows what he's doing and that makes
me know what I'm doing and he caters and changes up my routine
according to my needs, yet not forgetting to challenge me
at the same time. LIKETHISTIME. my god.
So yay, I'm happy.

So I guess the moral of this story is to
try and live a healthier lifestyle, nomatter
what you start with.
Baby steps add up, and you'll be pleased at the
progress you make at the end. ;D
Umm. OOPS just realised its 3 am.

Hello hello again!
Sorry for being away for so long,not that anyone cares..
Its Easter break, and I've been spending it talking to and hanging
out with real people like a normal person does. :]
And it feels GREAT.

Spent most of today with George and Sharon,
watching dodgey musicals as we do.
I swear, its completely coincidental..
We just honestly DO end up watching perverted musicals. LOVELOVE.
(Love how intimidating and awkward it gets for Sharon. HA!

but now its becoming our tradition, as is PIZZA!
But seriously, how else would you spend a beautiful
saturday but with your two favourite
dysfunctional people watching other people getting
naked/throats' being slit in musicals?

But george, as you know is a mutant too, or as she proudly puts it
"I'm the RAREST of the RARE!" she gloats.
This is because she has Heterochromia,
meaning she has two differently coloured eyes,
in which, blue and brown eyes tend to occur more often.
In George's case, she has a green and a brown eye,
which is EXTREMELY rare.
Hence her gloating rights.
Oh well. all the better to do her spastic expression with.
And then there's me.
They both agree I have a sick mutated mind.
case in point : Ive watched Sweeney Todd many many MANY
times. and I love it. And in other movies I YELL
"WHAT?WHY IS NOONE DEAD IN THIS MOVIE?"
which is greeted by concerned glances by the pair.
:D so yes.
We ALL belong in a circus.

Also, watched Clash of The Titans today.
If it weren't for my dad who dragged me there,
I wouldn't pay to see it.
Its just like every other movie in its genre..
Also I feel like it ripped off bits from its predecessors,
Hero.. blabla...Three witches...blabla..Prophecies... Um hello? Shakespeare's Macbeth much??
BUT I got a pleasant suprise when the Argoi warriors
were gathering and one of them was like "This is a suicide mission."
(or something along those lines.)
AND DING! guess who? NICHOLAS HOULT! :]
(aka. Tony Stonem off Skins.)
and then the Argoi princess was
being compared to Aphrodite, blabla..
and DING! Her maid-in-waiting, KAYA SCODELARIO! :] :]

And if you dont know already, they're my fave

So that made my daaaaaay!
Except Nic's character is a WIMP. :[
and Kaya's character only gets like 15 seconds airtime.

Since end Feb, I've been M.I.A. thanks to Malaysian group.
Ha. But its okaaaaay!
Cause all of us, well all of us minus Peaty,Sam and Nu,
had a much needed catch-up sesh/shopping feist todaaay. lol
(Cornwall Park School Fair.)

So my day started at 9.45..
And what do I wake up to?
Emily's frantic knocking at my door lol.
Cause I was supposed to be up at 9.30
waiting for her... (wince.)
I slide open my window, slurring
"zzzEmilyzz I justzz woke up." (pathetic smile follows.)
"GETYOURASSDOWNHEREWOMAN!"
-sigh-
tread downstairs and open the door ever so slighty.
"But I'm in my jammies emily!" I protest.

so STOMPSTOMPSTOMP goes emily into my room.
"emily i'm tired. i hate you. you woke me up."

So two minutes and no breakfast for Debbie later,
we were off.

And we waited in eager anticipation for the hall doors to
be opened along with the other 500 people in the queue..
Gawd, what is it with people and clothes for under $10??

So yes. The doors did finally open and it was like a rampage.
But thats what you expect when there's a SCHOOL HALL FULL
OF CLOTHES!
So yes. Grabbed 2 blazers, a brand new NZ musicmonth
top for $15.
So regret not buying the waffle knit sweather.
When I went back for it, it was goooone.

And Emi got 2 vests and 2 tops for..
WAIT FOR IT..

And we got FUDGE, russian fudge.
Ahhh. so heavenly. Although it was a little too vanilla-y.
And chocolate fudge.

oh yeah. And a communal Sprite that
had to go 5 ways. lol poor Annabel.

And Jessi got the MEANEST soft toys..
massive happy feet thing. and like a cuddlebuddy
killer whale. and a fat cat (which was of course the highlight.)
for $7 :]
And then we got awesome beaded bracelets YAY!
so cute, so elementary school. and they were 3 for $1.
And I swear my orange one has an Ikea bead.
Ah, childhood memories flood back.
Good on you, little girl who made my bracelet!

Then everyone came back to my house and crashed.
And apparently I'm an Asian mum in training
cause I tried to stuff everyone with food.

And Jessi fell in love with PATD all over again after seeing

Never before in my life have I ever been
this ashamed of myself.

So there was this concert held by the people from
SADD (students against drunk driving) and me and jessi
went to have a look-see.
But by the door there was this smallish-built older guy,
with a bit of a limp, scars across his face and little backpack.
and my first thought was "creep. whats he doing in our school."
After it ended, we walked out towards from the main entrance
towards our classes, but we got distracted by a mini-expo
at the foyer basically about the perils of drunk driving, etc.

Then what struck my attention was a large board of pictures,
starting off with a typical healthy young guy, obviosuly loved
by many, doing the haka, palying rugby with mates,
family portraits in which everyone's smiling.
But then,
the next series of photos were of a car that had crashed
into a tree, it was so badly damaged, that it was beyond recognition.
From these photos, you could see dismembered bodies from beyond
the wreckage of the car.

Underneath the board, there was a caption saying
[name of man who was featured in photos above]
was drunk, driving two other people in the car,
and got into an accident. He was the only survivor,
but suffers the effects until today.
Then I realised that the man in the photos was
actually the very man I saw in the doorway
who I so blatantly labelled 'creep'.
And I felt soooo bad.

Then Saankhya came running up towards him
and was like
"Are you the one who gave the speech just now?"
When he nodded, she took both his hands in hers
and said "You take care now."

I was so moved by this,
and what made it even worse was when he turned around
to acknowledge me and jessi and gave us the most sincere smile.
I just thought "I did not deserve that."
And I cried.

Its times like these that make you appreciate life for what it is.
It made me feel so ashamed of myself cause, here's this guy thats
owning up and taking the blame for what he's done,
facing the guilt every day for whats he's done,
and he's trying to change his life for the better,
and I'm mentally putting him down.
I had no right whatsoever to do so,
and in doing so, I have to live with the consience
of discriminating a stranger even before I've met them,
to live with the guilt of refusing to get to know someone
before judging them.

For this I am truly sorry.
Im also terribly apologetic about the fact that I didnt
learn your name.
But, thank you for teaching me such a significant lesson today
and giving me the chance to change my ways,
despite what I did.
Your courage to face up to what you've done is unmatched

And to you, best luck for the future.

Hopefully you'll meet more people like Saankhya,

and hopefully I'll see you again someday just

to say how sorry I am, and to truly thank you

for your smile today.

and now, the battle is won.

-Dinner(s) with Clifton and his parentals.
-Getting over how much I hate my job.
-6 personal training sessions. And counting.
Man, if I dont get guns by the end of the week,
I'll tae-bo James' ass. Haha. naaah.

Thats about it really.
There's still a lot I havent done..

And I have to come up with an art design proposal.. VERYSOON.
No idea what I'm going to do.. ... ....
Would like to promote an indie film, but then
that means either capturing my own stills,

and steal Rach's Nikon D80. ;]

Still pretty keeeeeeeen on the latter though. Dont know
how hard it will turn out to be... Cause I'm really not keen
on swapping projects once I've started.

on just clothes.. and it was only in a span of 3 days.

I'm cracking under all this pressure.

Malaysian Group used to be my pride and joy,
its like something priceless in which everyone
involved had special ties with each other,
unbreakable bonds formed over hours and hours
of tireless practice..
But it seems like I've broken this tradition.

In my so-far short stint at being the leader of this
wonderful group of girls, I've already managed to
upset many people who were once faithful followers
but have now turned their backs on us,
and this is my fault.
Im sorry.
I honestly am doing my very best, and I'm absolutely
sure you have no idea how much I'm bringing to the plate,
and yet you blame me for unappreciating you over the one
task I've delegated to you.
You blame me for being callous and disorganised,
but behind the scenes, I am the one working, staying up
late worrying about whether we will fundraise enough
money to cover our large expenditure this year,worrying about
WHY THE FUCK YOU GUYS ARENT COMING TO MEETINGS EVEN THOUGH ITS SPLAYED ALL ACCROSS THE NOTICES,
worrying whether our fundraising will even be profitable at all
given the nasty Auckland weather and ever growing
number of new cultural groups in EGGS, worrying whether
we will have a polised dance to perform in 2.5 weeks in front
of hundreds or end up disapponting, worrying about how
to please our less than easy to please teacher-in-charge.
You guys have driven her to a point where she's considered quitting.
This is NOT an exaggeration.
I'm not saying this just to back myself up.

Miss Druitt, bless her soul,
has been more than understanding about this,
not even pinning any blame on anyone as she
could easily have done.
I'm sorry that you guys made up the decision to leave
the group, but after talking to some others,
we have all agreed that this is the best way to
go about it seeing as you refuse to let go.

So thank you especially to
Caitie Cissy and Cleo for supporting me
when she was so inconsiderate to me,
thank you for putting up a fair argument with her.
And last but not least, Thank you Miss Druitt
for never failing to believe in me, and for not
doubting me. ever. Thank you also for checking up
on me in the evening just to make sure I was okay.
I really appreciate your fairness but no-nonsense attitude
which helped sort this out once and for all.

And now I guess, everything's back to normal.
Firendship ties were broken, but as Miss Druitt would say,
this brings the true standout personalities in your committee
closer together. :)

If you havent heard, Lee (Alexander) McQueen
passed away on the 11th Febuary this year.
It has been revealed that he committed suicide,
simply days after his elderly mother passed away.

Alexander McQueen is probably the most raved about
fashion designer of the Noughties, every thing about his
collections scream originality, haute haute haute couture.
there is no denying this guy had talent.
I mean. come on. Noone but him could make a runway show
THAT worth waiting with bated breath for.
Every single one of his creations were exquisite, breathtaking.
Here are my favourite A McQueen collections/pieces.

Does everyone remember all the rage with his skull scarves
around end 2006?
My, those things were AMAZING.
I absolutely fell in love with then when they came out.
Ugg. Minus the price of course.
So I got a cheap knockoff.. which I still wear.. with GUILT.
In those days, I swear everyone owned a McQueen scarf, and
these cult scarves will never get old.
Till today, the scarves are classic McQueen.

Although McQueen scarves are now a sign of conformity,
these two seem to never get the concept wrong.

Dayum this collection was sizzling.
It took fashion to futuristic new heights,
his new collection inspired by the idea of ecological
breakdown in the future, and how humankind would then
be morphed into armour-headed breeds of sea mosters.
Well if that was the plan, I'd gladly be usurped
into this day and age just to get my hands on some of
that disgustingly amazing Couture.
And also, who could forget it when Lady Gaga hyped up the
phenomenon even more by donning at least 4 outfits from the
entire runway collection in the video of her undeniably catchy
new single, Bad Romance.

At least we still have these amazing photos to look back on,
to prove that we were a part of the time when fashion changed its
course for good.
Alexander McQueen was the future of fashion, and now
he will go down in history.

Hit the gym today for the first time since Fri..
sorrrrry Cityfitness.
And dayum I hate the fact that I seem to have
deteriorated in terms of stamina
cause I just glanced at the treadmill today,
and practically fainted.
LOL.
So my usual 15 minute run was probably out of the questiooon..
And even worse, having your trainer that you've been
trying to avoid for so long finally catch up to you
and see you exercising on the least challenging
piece of equipment in the gym..
Heh.
Dont lie James. I saw that look on your face.
(He's going to torture me again next Monday. shit.)

But yes, before this self inflicted torture,
I took Eden down to Newmarket to show her around,
so she could walk down by herself next time
if she needed anything important.
And haaaah!
Guess who we saw on the side of the road by the electricity generator,
holding a King size bar of Cadbury's Black Forest..
Yes, Rhys.
Last year, me and Shanay were walking to the dairy while discovering
him in the exact same place, at the exact same time..
also with a King sized Cadbury's Black Forest.

Or maybe I'm just weird cause I pick people up
off the side of the streets and start talking animatedly to them

Aside from a massive 15 cm in diameter bruise on my knee
and not being able to sneeze lest I strain my aching muscles any further,
I am well :D
Just started Year 13 two days ago, and its going so far so good.
But then again. it is only day two....
Procrastination only starts to kick in after the exciting shit
is over and done with.

Speaking of exciting shit,
our group is yet again going to Polyfest this year.
Hip Hoorah :)
And I have Miss Druitt's mobile number on my phone.
How.... odd. But she's fantastic and at least now I dont have
to go on a massive manhunt around the school for her anymore :)
And also, now I FINALLY am at that stage where I can have
a decent conversation with Racheal.
Always knew her as 'That girl who lives on my road and is my
good friend's friend but I have no guts to talk to her even though
she looks awesometastically cool and says Hi to me sometimes."
And cool she is.
I mean, DAYUM. This year was her 3rd at Parachute.
ugh jealous.

School. school. school.
My head is too consumed with these thoughts to blog
about anything else.
Dull I know, and Im sorry. haha
But my school is truly a wonderful place.
Especially if you have Mr Lloyd as your Calculus teacher,
and he still remembers you from Year10 because you still sit
in the same seat, but have changed your glasses, which he has also
noticed and pointed out.

And I would continue about our free periods and sheeeet
in which we are allowed to waste our valuable time
sipping tea out of porcelain mugs in a quaint little cafe along
Nuffield Street in..... ..
But my back is aching from doing 60 weight-thingama-blobbins
on the Swiss Ball, and from sitting here for too long.

Hey so I think im getting the blogging bug again,
and I do so apologise for taking such a long break
from my blog, but it was time that I realised that I should just
like my life as it is, and not behind a 17 inch computer screen,
dwelling on the past.

It also gave me some well needed time to find myself,
and question whether I've/I am going down the right path
at this time of my life.
I've realised that I've been extremely reclusive these last few months,
and for those that know me, I've been extremely grumpy and distant.
Inside, all I felt was lost.
Again, I apologise.

Last year was one of the stages in my life in which I just thought
"Stop. Take a second and think. What the hell are you doing to yourself?"
I didnt like who I was becoming, I didnt like who I had become.
Being so critical of the change I knew I was undergoing also gave
me allowance to rethink some of the destructive relationships in that stage
of my life, and finally say "To hell with it, I can't always try to make
everyone else happy at my own expense."

Through this process, I may have lost a few friends, but this is exactly
what I needed to turn my life around.
And also on this journey, I think I've finally found the people
who really appreciate me for who I am, the people who truly care for me.
If you know me well, I'm one who bottles up my emotions, cause this is
what I've been taught to do my whole life:
Lock everyone out, and you will never be hurt.
But now I realise, that there are those out there that I can count on
for whatever, and you guys did help me pull through those dark periods.
You all know who you are, and for you I am extremely thankful.
Its nearly like I've found my purpose in life, and its all thanks to you.

2010 will hopefully be a year of fresh starts and better judgements.
2010 will also hopefully make me a better person.
Wish me luck. :)

A French travel tip : SHUT UP AND QUEUE UP OKAY?

Hello hello everbody :)
Thanks for staying tune for my whole
travel-blog concept-thing.. Haha..
I'm actually not very good at this..
But thanks for your support, guys. ;)

So, i've just returned from our three day stint in Paris :)
Lets say it was average, and not extremely omgroflwthstfulmao-mind blowing
as what I expected. (That's what you get when you have high expectations huh?)
Me, dad, Ryan and mum took the train to Paris on a Friday night with
3 of my dad's colleagues.

The next day, we journeyed down to Paris Disneyland..
And umm.. I know this will sound mean..
and contradict what i said in my last post..
but.. it was so.. UNENJOYABLE.
Gawd. Honestly couldn't wait to get out of there.
It was raining continuously for pretty much the whole morning,
dampening our moods for the day.
Spent most of the day in utter disagreement over EVERYTHING.
"NO DAD! I DONT WANT TO QUEUE UP FOR A PHOTO!'
WE DO THIS EVERYTIME WE'RE HERE!!!
WE WANT TO GO ON RIDESSSS!!! GRRR &@$#!"
yeah. That's pretty much how it went down. haha
Eventually, we parted company.. making everyone a LITTLE happier.
me and Ryan went around searching for rides etc. But all the queues were
over 2 hours long :/ sigh.

So we went to get a fastpass for Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blaster,
(looool. we play this game at EVERY disneyland! haha. its THE MAN.)
but we were only scheduled for 4.30.
Sigh. 3.5 hours to kill. What to do?
Upon my suggestion, we queued up for the Haunted House ride.
The line was like WOW THE WHOLE OF FRANCE TURNED UP FOR THIS RIDE!
lol. Im not even kidding.
Thank GOD the line moved extremely quickly, got into the house in under
30 minutes. Twas pretty cool. Except the overcrowding caused the ride to have to be
stopped several times :(
Then we went to get food, couldnt be F*cked with anything else.
Thing is, the little cafes we walked past were all shut down due to the
shitty weather. :(
So we walked ALL THE WAY to Adventureland,
finally found some decent place to have food..
but the queue was like OMG ALL THE PEOPLE FROM THE HAUNTED HOUSE DECIDED TO HAVE LUNCH HERE TOO?
Had to queue for like 45 mins till we got our food.
Sigh. at this point, me and ryry were just so miserable.
Seriously, FML.

yeah.
and that was just half of the day.
I wont elaborate. It's making me miserable by just looking back on it.
haha.
Basically for the rest of the day, this is what happened.
- Encountered the RUDEST people ever in our lives.
- had to queue up just to buy a TSHIRT.
- got chased away from the spot we saved for the parade.
- FCUKING LOST THE FCUKING FASTPASSES!

loooooool. I know right? hahahaha.
I think we've just grown out of Disneyland.
Sigh.
I used to think this place was heaven, its like I could just
reminisce on my childhood, make my childhood dreams come true
cause I couldn't then and can now.
But, hey. People change huh?
:( still rather devastated at how quickly I've outgrown this place.

We went to the Universal Studios though.
And that place was bloody awesome. haha
It was themed like Old Hollywood.
LOVELOVE!
So should have toured down there first. haha.

Amsterdam part deux

Hello again peoples, so I've safely arrived in Amsterdam,
taken the train and lived with my daddy in his hotel
in The Hague.
Yes hague. Like Plague wihtout the pl. haha.
Ahhh. Lovely hotel that one,
theyve got a massive clear bowl of Pepernoten
on the recption's desk.
For all of you who dont know what this is, it's a rounded
cookie baked from flour and tastes like cinnamon/nutmeg.
Pepernoten are usually associated with Christmas, or
the Dutch version of this festive holiday.. with Saint Nikolas
as santa and the naughty black pete's as Santa's helpers.

man, this was such a massive part of my childhood in PDO.
Aileen, do you remember our stockings being filled to the brim
with pepernoten and those weird maeshmallow-ey sweets?
Haha. Life was gooood.

And in a bit, we shall be taking the train to Paris :)
We'll be there for the 3days.. i think.
have i mentioned we'll be going to DISNEYLAND?
Haha. I may be old as, but disneyland still is my absolute
favourite place. ever. ever ever.

So....
Im currently in KL (as per usual, haha..)
or KOALA LUMPERR as Rhys pronounces it,
haha gotta love it.

Gawd, I've missed this place.
Missed the bustling sounds of the city past 7 bloody o'clock
cause the shops are actually still open.
Missed the pungent Hukkah pipe smoke smells that fill the air
as you stroll down the streets.
Missed the hot, clammy weather that makes your clothes stick to
you like your second skin.
Missed the bright lights that makes this city what it is.
I know its only been like 4 months, but Im knee-deep in nostalgia.
Its soooo good to be back.

And yes, as you all know, old habits die hard.
So for all this time i've been in KL,
which is pretty much 2 and a half days,
I've been SHOPPING, EATING, and TALKING BULLSH*T.
(Yes, i have a tendency to ramble on.. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? haha)
AND I MET SYNNNNNYIIIII!!! :)
I'm probably singlehandedly improving Malaysia's economy too...
having spent a whopping RM5,500++ within 50 hours. haha. terrible, i know.
(Topshop will be the death of me, I swear. haha)
But on the plus side, I got the DSLR camera I've always wanted, and then some.
haha.

Yes. This is exactly how the saying goes
for us Malaysians out there. heh.
Take any Malaysian out anywhere, and the
first thing they'll say is
"Eh.. when we go eat arrr?"
Teehee. Guilty as charged.

So well, today me and my mummy
were at Sylvia Park doing some last minute shopping..
(I know right.. my exam's tomorrow. haha)
And then we got hungry.
So we went to the foodcourt... cause I was extremely low on cash.
And this person on the table next to us was chomping on a
massive plate of CHAR KWAY TEOW from Chilli Padi.
And it looked sooooooooooo good.

When I ordered it, they asked me how spicy I wanted it.
LOOOOL isn't that so coooool?
Normally Malaysian restaurant either pile on the chilli oil,
making it overly spicy and gross.
And others dont even put any chilli oil in it,
making it plain bland and salty. =___=
So they scored points there.
And the person who served me had an awesome as Malaysian slang.
"Tree minit arr!" hehehehehehehehehe.
True to her word, my Kuay Teow arrived in 3 minutes.
And it was So. Bloody. Delicious.
Salty, and spicy enough.
And just the right amount of burnt bits in it too. LOL.
(and prawns. and beansprouts. and chinese sausages. and spring onion.)
Yum. It was sooooooo authentic.
And there was soooo much of it, so worth $10.

As a conclusion, the best Kway Teow,
(in my entire lifespan actually.)
hands down,
goes to Chilli Padi, Sylvia Park.
All Kiwi-Malaysians who miss home food,
rush there.. NOW.
And to think I used to discriminate against foodcourt-foods.

So, as you all know, I'm a nail polish addict.

Well, recently I've been introduced to O.P.I.
nail polishes... and well lets say it was love at first sight.
(THANK YOU BRIDGETTTTTT!)
haha. They've got such a massive range of colours,
and YES, every colour shows up as it does in the bottle.
(So concentrated!! None of that cheap diluted shit.)

Yeah well, I've been looking for the perfect dark plum/maroon
shade for agggggesss, but they never seem to have the exact shade I want... Weird, I know right? its OPI.
But all that changed... TODAY. at exactly 5.02 in Farmers.
I FOUND THE PERFECT O.P.I. NAIL POLISH!!
Its called Black Cherry Chutney.

to Malaysia/Europe in late November till early January 2010.
We'll be stopping over at KL first for about a week,
then HAMSTERdam (sorry couldn't resist.), then Paris,
then Switzerland (I'm not even going to try name the place we're going.), then POSSIBLY England or Prague.
(I'll be going with my lovely mommeh and daddeh. and my little cousin Ryan.

Then after Europe is AroundTheWorldIn80Days-ed,
we shall be back in Miri for about a week before leaving for Auckland.
Sigh. All I know is that this is going to be one loooooooooong holiday.

First of all,
i HATE planes with a passion.
(the diesel-ish smell is nauseating. plane food is disgusting.
need me to elaborate further?)

Second of all,
its SUMMER in NZ and MALAYSIA then bloody 0 degrees in Europe.
I have Hayfever/Sinus issues..
I COULD DIE FOR ALL YOU CARE!!
and extreme climate change isnt good for my skin either.
I get maaaaaaaaaaajor rashes.
(shudder.)

Thirdly,
Arts and Cultural Committee training camp is being held during this time.
There goes my chance of being a prefect. :(

So I had a little attemp at packing for Europe..
found myself getting incredibly frustrated. lol

1x Gangsta as A&F fur hoodie (faux fur of course. dont kill animals just so you can be warm and cuddly :/)
1x Big Fat Puffer Jacket that makes me look like the Michelin Man.
2x Pairs of Jeans.
1x JimJams. Actually just cotton top and black leggings. lol im lazzzzy.
1x Paramore Decode Beanie. (YAAAAAAY! haha yes. I've had it since March. Never known what to do with it though... until today that is.)

and thats about it. lol.
(oh and i think there's a trench coat in there somewhere.)
i cant actually fit ANYTHING else in there. -___-
lol eww. I'll have to wear the same things over and over again.

1x Extremely thin cardi. (so i wont sweat while walking out and about, but wont freeze in shopping malls.)
2x Dresses. Just in case we go for a nice breakfast/dinner/lunch/brunch/ you get the idea. (hint.SYNYI.ATHIRA.SCOTT. hint.xD)
15,000x T shirts. LOL. Well actually only like 6. (see how the top one's leopard print??? hehehehehe.)

I'll probs just have to wear the same thing every day in Europe.

Lots has been happening around school
recently, and its been keeping me REAL busy.

Im getting a pair of DOCS!!

I know right, they're so big. chunky. and ugly.
But hey. I fell in love with them when
I first saw them on some fashionblog.

How many pairs does that girl own? GEEZ!

So, I spent aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages
debating between the black and rose pink.

BLACK
Pros:
-Not as ostentatious.
-Goes with practically anything.
-Black is classic <33>
-My dad could wear them after I'm over them??? (lol.)

Cons:
-Theyre black.. so.. expected.
-They would look weird with opaque tights.
-You can buy them anywhere, everyone else has them.
-Ive got too much black stuff.

Rose Pink

Pros:

-Very hard to find. Not manufactured anymore.

-Bright, breaks up a black-on-black ensemble.

-Nobody in NZ has them! HOHOHO!

-They look so amazingly awesome with opaques

and shift dresses.

Cons:

-I might grow out of this rose pink phase.

-Too attention-grabbing.

-My dad would NOT wear these. haha.

-I DONT EVEN LIKE PINK?!

lol. after weeks and weeks of heated debate,

I've decided to go with the pink ones.

haha I guess Im ready for a change.

Kay well. We all know that next year's
AGS/EGGS production is the Sound Of Music, no?

Auditions were held recently, and I went to the one held yesterday.
I mean, why not.
Its going to be my last year.
Might as well try out, cause it would suck if I regretted after.
(looool I regret not trying out for The Mikado. sososososososo much!)
Yeah. so I tried out for the part of Liesl with Anya,
both of us being each other's waltzing partner.

(Tis Liesel and Rolf mid-waltz.)
When we finally got called in for the audition,
I started freaking out and just had a complete mindblank,
and Abby had to feed me the line I forgot.
Miss Druitt looked so disappointed, :(
made me feel bad.
She puts too much high hope on me.
I don't deserve it.
Seriously, I couldn't help going
"Sorrrrrrrry Miss!"
Hah. I know right.
There's my supporting role gone down the gutter.
But I think Anya/Kelila have very good chances at getting Liesl,
so YAY :)
I couldn't expect fairer competition.
But at least my singing and teeny weeny bit of waltzing went well,
so I've got my fingers crossed for chorussssss...
maybe?
haha.

Just thinking to myself though..
We've been doing such out-there productions
for the past three years, it came as a bit of a shock
to everyone really when the Sound Of Music was
announced as the produciton next year.
Its great and all, but isnt it just so cliche??
All the teachers are groaning in utter frustration at this.
haha. especially Mr Kirkham. Quite funny really.
(Well Sir its not your fault that youre better looking
than all the other teachers, why wouldnt anyone come
up to you for waltzing lessons?)

Me and Monica were just brainstorming in Calc today,
and we came up with a partial list of musicals that would
simply be AWESOME to do.

1. CHICAGO.

Need we say more?
Everyone knows at least ONE of the songs off this phenomenal musical.
Heck, we wouldnt care if we didnt get proper roles.
As long as we get to take part in the CELL BLOCK TANGO,
we would've died and gone to heaven

2. ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

This is probably the weirdest yet most influential musical

of this time and age.

and its just plain aaaaaaaaaaaaamazing :]

will never ever ever ever be recreated.

can you just imagine the entire audience doing the time warp?

That would be cool :]

yet unfortuantely we have no say in matters such as these.

Here I am again, sincerely apologising for the lack of posting..
GAH.
school is extremely stressful right now.
not to mention the fact that im practically failing everything.
and my art design folio board is due in 2 weeks...
AAAAAAAAGH!

I cant actually believe how much work I'm behind on
in pretty much all my subjects (minus English and Physics.),
I mean WHAT THE HELL have i been doing these 9 months?
ugh. I guess its a wee bit late to have a epiphany now, but I
cant help but regret neglecting most of my schoolwork for whatever
reason I did, which has obviously reflected in my exam grades.
hohoho, lets not even go there.
I. HATE. FAILING. !!
But I guess I can treat it as a wake-up call of some sort,
and at least i still have around 30 days to cram-study
for the NCEA.
siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Which is why I'm making it a point to lock myself up in
my room without my phone/ipod or laptop (exception TODAY! haha)
and actually immerse myself in studying. (or at least trying.)
Hope its not too late to save my sorry arse.**

sorry for the grumpiness and antisocial-ness you're going
to have to deal with for about a month.

Style File ; she mixes vintage with the designer, dresses down 'pretty' by adding her own dose of grunge/rock chick quality. Oozes effortless glam; and looks PRETTY DARN GOOD while doing it.
(oh how i love her styyyyyyle!)

She's the main cause for my inspiration nowadays; I'm going for a darker,
not-made-to-cater look, learning to use my amazing opshop finds with the other
stuff I've got in my wardrobe.
Yeah. just bought a well-fitting long black blazer,
(FINALLY FOUND ONE THAT SITS NICELY ON THE SHOULDERS! lol)
and it shall serve me well.
I'll probs wear it till it has moth holes in it or smth :D

and oh, back to reality.
Its Arts and Cultural Dinner tomorrow night,
(YUSS! a chance to dress up and buy new things!)
and I've just spent the last half an hour sewing
purple fabric roses onto the dress that I'm wearing.
Yes, Scott. Its THE DRESS you said that I was
'picking myself' in during New Years.. lol remember?
(Its not my fault that the dress was too big! lol. still is, actually.)
And got the AWESOMEST Gladiator heels to go with it.
:D took me very long to come across those shoes,
(you should've seen me weep on Saturday when the
satin platform pumps a la Yves Saint Laurent
were all sold out across Auckland. )
But i am EXTREMELY happy with them :]
They're sorta like the Louboutin booties that Lily
from BleedForFashion wears.
(Yes those very ones that Ive spent many a time
drooling over.)

So I'm supposed to be studying for Media Studies.
But pfffffft. I've given up.
Since me and Arna have decided to flunk the
make-your-own-flippin-movie assessment,
i guess its fair to say that studying for it doesn't
make up for anything anyway.

to pass my time. haha. STUDYING?!
